Vishwanka, a sophomore at Croton Harmon High School, showed interest in Indian classical dance from a very early age. She joined Natya Anubhava Dance Academy at the age of five and under the tutelage of Dr. Nalini Rau her passion towards classical dance invigorated. In pursuit of her desire to excel Vishwanka practices dance quite diligently. Vishwanka also assists Dr. Rau in teaching junior students.

 

 

As a part of the learning at Dr. Rau's Dance School, Vishwanka performed at various venues including: The Hindu Temple, Flushing;  Sri Krishna Vrundavana, Edison; The India Center of Westchester,  NY;  Kalautsav,  Yorktown;  Arts Council of Westchester and at various schools, libraries and community events around the Tri-State Area.

 

 

Besides her interest in dance, Vishwanka represents her school in CACTI (Croton Academic Challenge Team Intelligence), a member of the school student congress and was recently elected as the class secretary for the sophomore year and is also member of junior varsity soccer team. Vishwanka trains for Taekwondo (attained high red belt) and also an active participant in the ‘Destination Imagination’ program. For several years, Vishwanka and her team progressed to Global Finals at Knoxville, TN. Vishwanka successfully raised $3,000/- for Project Outreach, a community awareness project to fight against hunger.
